A word about Silk Gauze
Silk gauze is a wonderful fabric to work on. The holes are extremely clear and the fabric very fine and flexible. Therefore it moulds itself perfectly to working in small scale.
The largest (and therefore the easiest) gauge silk gauze included in my kits is 40hpi (holes per inch). This gauze is the most popular amongst my customers. The holes in this gauze, though small are very clear and you may find that in a good light you will not require magnification. A surprising amount of detail can be obtained using 40hpi gauze and the finished results are very effective.
48hpi gauze is that much finer and my particular favourite. Silk thread has to be used in preference to cotton, which is too thick, but the needle used has a fairly large eye and is quite easy to thread. You will probably require magnification and good light to work on this gauze.
The finest gauze i use in my kits is 56hpi. Incredible detail can be obtained from the finer mesh but you will almost definitely need magnification.
I sell several other sizes of gauze, which you can find in 'Materials'.
